Background:
Kashmir: A Region in Crisis (2025)
Kashmir, a Muslim-majority region divided between India and Pakistan since 1947, has endured decades of conflict — especially along the Line of Control (LoC). The heavily militarized zone sees frequent Indian shelling, causing deaths, injuries, and destruction in villages on the Pakistani side.
In 2025, the violence has escalated again. Indian forces bombed several areas near the LoC, killing civilians, damaging homes, and displacing entire communities. This is part of a long history of aggression marked by military crackdowns, human rights abuses, and the suppression of Kashmiri voices.
For the people of Kashmir, life remains a constant struggle for safety, dignity, and peace.
Pakistan
Background:
Pakistan, home to over 240 million people, faces widespread poverty, with around 21% living below the national poverty line, especially in rural areas. Limited access to infrastructure, healthcare, and education deepens inequality.
Educational shortfalls are severe, with 23 million children—mostly girls—out of school and a literacy rate of just 59%. Rural areas and women face the greatest barriers due to poor school facilities, a lack of teachers, and cultural constraints.
Poverty and education are closely linked, as struggling families often prioritize survival over schooling. Improving education access and infrastructure is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
